Our Research

The FrontTear Research Centre has a central focus on defining ocular surface biology and function. Our research integrates fundamental, clinical and implementation science, as a basis for improving patient outcomes.

We collaborate with a large network of researchers, spanning the disciplines of immunology, proteomics, engineering, biostatistics, neuroscience, neurology and ophthalmology.

Our research nodes

This research node focuses on the use of high-resolution, human Fun-IVCM imaging as a non-invasive tool to dynamically image corneal immune cells and neuro-immune responses.

This node integrates fundamental biology and clinical research, as a basis for investigating tears as a platform for understanding human disease.

Learn more about our FrontTear Research Centre research in our simple-to-read Infographics, summarising our recent publications.

We use preclinical models and clinical investigations to learn about the immunobiology and neuroimmunology of the cornea in health and disease.

We have over 10 years of experience in undertaking investigator-initiated and industry-sponsored randomised controlled trials (RCTs) of ophthalmic drugs and devices.

We have a number of project offerings for Honours, Masters and PhD candidates.
